Tomo Engineering Joins Three Oaks Engineering

Three Oaks Engineering, a woman-owned engineering firm based in Durham, North Carolina, announced today that Tomo Engineering, a hydrologic and hydraulic engineering firm, has joined Three Oaks, significantly expanding the firm’s water resources and hydraulic engineering capabilities. The combination allows Three Oaks clients throughout the Carolinas and the broader Southeast to draw upon expanded expertise in transportation drainage design, watershed studies, erosion and sediment control design and inspection, floodplain permitting, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, and stormwater facility design and inspection. Tomo founder and president Trent Cormier will join Three Oaks as Engineering Director. With more than 20 years of consulting experience, Cormier has developed a reputation for working closely with clients to deliver practical, sustainable infrastructure solutions. The addition of the Tomo team gives the combined firm more than 80 years of hydrologic and hydraulic design experience. “I’m thrilled to welcome Trent and his team to Three Oaks,” said Three Oaks President Suzanne Unger Young. “Their technical depth and client-focused approach strengthen our ability to serve clients throughout the Carolinas and the broader Southeast. This combination advances us towards our goal of transitioning to an employee-ownership trust, which will preserve the business for the benefit of our employees for generations to come." Cormier, who founded Tomo in 2023, added, “Three Oaks and Tomo share core values, including a strong commitment to sustainability, work-life balance, and long-term client relationships. We recognize that our clients and employees are the cornerstones of our long-term success.” The addition of Tomo continues Three Oaks’ strategic growth.
